What It Takes To Install Artificial Grass

The artificial turf industry is flourishing day by day with a growing popularity of artificial grass. Numerous benefits of artificial grass such as low maintenance, durability, visual appeal and water conservation attract people to replace their natural grass lawn to an artificial grass lawn. Another advantage of artificial grass is that it is easy to install on various forms of soil conditions and different levels of surfaces. Even though many artificial grass manufacturers provide the services of installation but the process is so easy it can be handled easily by the homeowners themselves.

Here are some steps that you need to follow when you are going to install artificial grass yourself:

1. Determine the perimeter of the area where you will fix your artificial lawn. If the area is curved or detailed, then it will be better to border the area with outdoor spray paint. Analyse the dimension of your artificial lawn in such a way that minimises joins with the turf running in the same direction.

2. Removing all existing grass, sod, dirt and debris to allow for a minimum of 50mm crusher dust sub base and additional allowance for turf.

3. While leveling the ground works, make sure the water drains away to a run off point.

4. After removing the soil and other debris, compact the remaining soil by using a vibrating compacting machine.

5. Next, make a solid foundation for your artificial grass. For this process you need to spread Crusher dust evenly to the depth of at least 50mm.

6. Now, again moisturize and compact the area at least two times. Use a compacter wacker plate or hire a plate compactor for effective compacting.

7. Now, roll out the artificial grass pieces on the area where you want it to be installed. Here you need to be careful regarding direction of the fibres. They should all be aligned in the same direction.

8. Start the gluing process. Pay special attention on seams. Every joining point should be cut, taped and glued in such a way that it remains invisible or hidden.

9. After the gluing process, the artificial grass should be left to dry out in the sun for at least two hours.

10. Lastly, cut and shape the synthetic material according to your requirements.

To install artificial turf is not a very difficult task. It requires some physical strength ,having prior knowledge about the installation and the steps involved in the process enables you to save on the cost of using a professional.
